Wood Carvings | Hand Carved Frisco Locomotive 1026 SOLD
I was fascinated by this beautiful locomotive and researched it on the interent and found out a few details from Frisco Railroad Museum's "All Aboard". It was built by Baldwin and sold to the Frisco Railroad in 1910. It and two other locomotives, number 1018 and 1031, received new look in 1938. The 1026 received a streamlined shell and cowling and fancy Zepher blue paint with a stainless stripe. The other two locomotives were beautiful, but I think the 1026 was the most beautiful and sleek of all. The "Springfield MO Sunday News and Ledger" announced it as "Frisco's Shop's First Streamliner" on May 22,1938. The 1026 ran on the Firefly line from Kansas City to Oklahoma City, but by the 1950's all three streamlined locomotives were replaced by larger locomotives. As you will see everyone loves this train including my cat!
