Wood Carvings | Baraga Barn
This wood carving has a decorative self frame and a dramatic multi-color stain. It is carved in a beautiful 2 inch thick piece of butternut and is about 30 inches by 40 inches. A wood carving of this size was a big committment and a long process. My husband suggested I put some wild life in it so I added some chickadees that I sketched from the birds at my feeder. The zinnias in the fore ground were added because my cat was sleeping on the section that I needed to work on at the moment. Wood carvings are often modified by life and this wood carving, due to its size and the time spent carving it, is certainly that way. This carving can be hung on a wall as it is or it could be covered with glass and used for a coffee table top.
Medium: butternut
